Japanese Uchikake "Peacocks" (beautiful happiness) Bridal or Ceremonial Robe Vintage Japanese Uchikake Bridal or Wedding Kimono depicting flying peacocks which symbolizes: The Peacock is representative of glory, immortality, royalty, and incorruptibility. It is a possessor of some of the most admired human characteristics, and is a symbol of integrity and the beauty that can be achieved when we endeavor to better ourselves and better our lives. The traditional Japanese marriage kimono are some of the most ornate garments in the realm of traditional Japanese ceremonial clothing. Wedding Kimono or Uchikake were originally worn by women of nobility for formal occasions, but is now an essential component of any traditional Japanese bridal costume although many Japanese women today have chosen a more Western tradition. This Wedding Kimono is heavily embroidered union of peacocks and golden lily pads. These Uchikake robe are like a Yuzen painting and are in a sense big paintings and make a grant wall hanging. The vivid Orange (symbolic of joy and happiness). The back of the Kimono depicts heavy gold,wrapped satin stitched embroidery. The bottom of the robe features a padded rolled hem.
