Amazing Mixed Wood Sculptural Vessel by California Artist Russell Smith - "GOLDEN EAGLE" Vase. The design is very much like a puzzle with over hundred inlaid pieces to create this magnificent vessel Description: The construction of this bowl involves a laminating technique to make the wood block out of the bowl and then is turned. This requires the fitting and gluing of over 143 pieces. The Birds are made from African Padouk (red) and the Mexican bocote (black stripe). The African padouk was used for the lightning with the Oregon alder used as the primary wood. Russell Smith's first love is wood but has done crafts most of his life including stained glass, stone and metals. Measurements: 10" Height, Diameter is 30" round, Mouth Opening 3-1/4".
